Jessica Harlin, PLA

Jessica holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She has been practicing for over a decade in the Santa Barbara area, taking projects from inception through construction.

Prior to founding Barefoot Design, Jessica worked with Van Atta Associates for many years learning from renowned Landscape Architect Susan Van Atta , cultivating her love of native landscapes.

Jessica believes design is an all  inclusive experience.  A puzzle that takes into account everything from the site, adjacent landscape and community, client needs and architectural aesthetic, and the fun is finding the best combination of elements to create final product that takes all factors into account.

KATELYN RHEINSCHILD

Katelyn Rheinschild is a trained Landscape Architect and Santa Barbara native whose work is shaped by the rhythms, textures, and quiet beauty of the California coast. A graduate of UCLA’s Landscape Architecture program, she brings both technical expertise and an artist’s intuition to every project.

Her design approach is rooted in sensitivity. Reading a site’s natural character, honoring its story, and crafting spaces that feel effortless, lived-in, and deeply connected to their surroundings. Katelyn has a rare eye for nuance: the way light moves through plantings, how materials ground a space, and how subtle shifts in form can make a landscape feel inviting, restorative, and distinctly human.

At Barefoot Design, she helps create outdoor environments that are honest, warm, and functional—places where beauty emerges from simplicity, and where people feel naturally at home in the landscape.
